The Nurse Aide curriculum prepares individuals to work under the supervision of licensed nursing professionals in performing nursing care and services for persons of all ages. Topics include growth and development, personal care, vital signs, communication, nutrition, medical asepsis, therapeutic activities, accident and fire safety, household environment and equipment management, family resources and services, and employment skills. Upon completion, the student may be eligible for listing as a Nurse Aide I and other selected Nurse Aide registries as determined by the local program of study.
This curriculum complies with the standard approved by the State Board of Community Colleges.
Students may be required to take developmental courses in Math and/or English as a result of high school GPA or pre-enrollment placement tests. Therefore, the student may need more than the minimum number of semester hours listed for graduation. Consult a program advisor for more information.
This program of study does not qualify for federal and/or state financial aid.
Upon completion of this program, student will:
Communicate clearly, precisely, and in a timely manner to an appropriate member of the healthcare team.
Safely assist patients with activities of daily living in a variety of healthcare settings.
Analyze appropriate clinical findings.
Provide patient-centered care to culturally diverse individuals, families and communities.
Demonstrates behaviors consistent with the legal and ethical framework of the nurse aide profession.
