The Esthetics Technology curriculum provides competency-based knowledge, scientific/artistic principles and hands-on fundamentals associated with the art of skincare. The curriculum provides a simulated salon environment that enables students to develop manipulative skills. Course work includes instruction in all phases of professional Esthetics Technology, such as facials, electric modality facials, body treatments, hair removal, microdermabrasion, makeup, eyelash extensions and lash and brow lamentation as well as business/human relations, product knowledge, and other related topics. Graduates should be prepared to take the North Carolina Cosmetology State Board Licensing Exam and upon passing be licensed and qualify for employment in beauty and cosmetic/skincare salons, as a platform artist, and in related businesses.
Program Learning Outcomes
Apply the foundational knowledge obtained in the theoretical classroom on the subjects within our scope of practice that influence cosmetology and esthetics consultation and execution of services.
Perform foundational technical skills that are within the designated scope of practice for all Esthetics services.
Execute universal precautions (sanitation, disinfection and blood exposure) for the safety and protection of each client and the operator.
Conduct professional consultations with clients to assess their specific Esthetic needs.
This program qualifies for a prorated amount of federal and/or state financial aid.
