The Cosmetology Instructor curriculum provides a course of study for learning the skills needed to teach the theory and practical services of cosmetology as required by the North Carolina Board of Cosmetic Arts.

Coursework includes requirements for becoming an instructor, introduction to teaching theory, methods and aids, practice student teaching, and development of evaluation instruments.

Graduates of the program may be employed as cosmetology instructors in public or private education and business.

Upon completion of this program, students will:

  • Apply the foundational knowledge obtained in the theoretical classroom on the subjects within our scope of practice of instruction that influence cosmetology and esthetics Classroom environments and student learning and progression.

  • Perform foundational technical skills that are within the designated scope of practice for all Cosmetology services for Student demonstrations and visual education.

  • Execute universal precautions (sanitation, disinfection and blood exposure) for the safety and protection of each client and the operator as we are to practice in the classroom/salon as well as in the professional working environment.

  • Conduct professional consultations with clients to assess their specific cosmetology needs in conjunction with the student in order to provided needed guidance through each service professionally.

This program of study qualifies for a prorated amount of federal and/or state financial aid.
